Mrs. Anderson serves on the Board of Directors of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She has worked with a wide variety of organizations to prevent sexual harm, abuse, exploitation, and violence and promote sexual health since 1976. With an MA in human development, her early work involved serving as an advocate for child victims and a consulting therapist with survivors of prostitution and sexual abuse, and with perpetrators.
Mrs. Anderson also spent many years using theater for prevention education and social change. In 1992, Mrs. Anderson founded Sensibilities Prevention Services, her own consultation and training business based in Minneapolis, MN. She currently consults with Stop Porn Culture to develop materials for parents and with MN Coalition Against Sexual Assault to engage survivors as champions in prevention. She also co-hosts a national web conference series, Ending Child Sexual Abuse.
Mrs. Anderson has conducted over 2,200 training’s nationally and internationally on a range of issues surrounding child sexual abuse and prevention, the impact of pornography, and sexual harm, as well as trainings for counselors dealing with these issues.
Mrs. Anderson has appeared on several media programs as an expert including The Oprah Winfrey Show, ESPN, National Public Radio, CBS Morning News, and PBS. She was a part of WCCO-Minnesota’s PROJECT ABUSE, which won a National Emmy Award 1985. Mrs. Anderson was the lead content expert on a statewide campaign “You’re the One Who Can Make the Peace.”
